Q: Where will our games be played?
Because we are part of the Hill Country Youth Football League, our games will be played throughout the Central Texas Hill Country. We will host our fair share of home games too!
Q: When will practices be held?
Practices will start the week of July 31st with three practices a week until school starts. We will go to two practices a week once school starts. Practice days and times will be determined by the volunteer coaches based upon their availability. Practice days and times are subject to change due to scheduling conflicts, school events, daylight savings time, etc.
Q: How long is our season?
We believe that 8 to 9 games is an appropriate length of a tackle season for youth football players. Therefore a typical season consists of 7 regular season games, a semi final play off game or a bowl game to give a team 8 games. Teams that advance from the semi finals get a 9th game for championships. This is the right amount of tackle football to give the players a great experience and at the same time leave them hungry for more when the season is completed.
Q: Does my child have to be a certain size to play football?
We believe that children of all sizes should be able to play football. We are an unlimited weight league, however, we have placed reasonable restrictions on the backfield/ball carrying positions. Wise balance is the thread through out our league.
Q: Is my child guaranteed any play time?
Depending upon your players age and the size of the team, your player is guaranteed to play 6 to 10 plays per game. However, missed practices and/or poor practice behavior may lead to less play time than other players.
Q: How are positions and playing time determined?
Players will be competing with their peers for playing time at each position during practices, scrimmages, and games. Coaches will evaluate each player in order to determine where they can help the team the most and ultimately where the player can be the most successful. Players who demonstrate hard work, discipline, and good attendance during practices and games will be rewarded with additional recognition and playing time.
