A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury, or TBI, caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head that can change the way your brain normally works. Concussions can also occur from a fall or a blow to the body that causes the head and brain to move quickly back and forth.
Health care professionals may describe a concussion as a “mild” brain injury because concussions are usually not life-threatening. Even so, their effects can be serious.

USA Football works with its FDM Council – a group of medical, football and long-term athlete development experts – to open more paths to the game and improve upon existing ones. Players will learn in an age-appropriate way, building confidence and enthusiasm for an inspired football journey through better experiences.
From flag to tackle, there are more ways to play and more reasons to stay.
Keeping football fun and dynamic continues to capture the imaginations of young athletes. The FDM will offer the most immersive educational resources football has ever seen, so coaches can cover every aspect of a young person’s development and deliver the best experience for their players.
Within the FDM, football experts from youth to professional levels develop progressions for skills like passing and blocking. Each progression is developed and evaluated to ensure it is logical, repeatable and transferable for every stage and game-type.
